Google throws its hat in the ring (actually, it has thrown its hat in the ring again) and is now the largest source of available ebooks online. I was surfing some fellow writers’ blogs on the weekend and came across a writer who had recently found out that her books were available for illegal download on the internet. There has been a bit of discussion on this blog about ebooks, but this particular problem has never been discussed or mentioned here before. It seems now though, that writing has become much more “digitally” available that it would be a natural problem (the music industry has been dealing with it for years- decades actually).
So, as writers what are your thoughts? Would we just be happy to have people want to read our work so much that they download it illegally?
As readers, would you say writers should just be happy their work is available for the masses?
